Christmas/Summer/Summer body preparation is upon us. If your like me, i like to make my own personal Christmas gifts, and this year i thought i would delve into creating my own body butter. I am still making adjustments to the recipe to see if i can make the mixture a little creamier. If anyone has any tips, please feel free to comment below.
1 cup Raw Organic Cocoa butter (purchased from my local health shop)
1/2 cup Organic Coconut Butter
1/2 cup Macadamia oil (you can use any oil you like ie almond oil)
Simmer water using a saucepan and bain marie set up over the stove. This will help heat the butters gradually at a fixed temperature. Place solid butters into a glass jug within saucepan to slowly melt. Stir occasionally to separate butter. Once butters have melted, pour oil and any other flavours into the saucepan. Stir and place mixture into the freezer for 30 minutes to cool. The cooling time will depend on freezer temperature and weather. My mixture ended up taking 40 minutes due to some 40 degree heat we had outside! Once mixture has started to solidify without setting completely, remove from freezer. Using a hand whisker, whisk the butter until soft peaks start to form. If your mixture is too runny this step will not happen. Also note the mixture starts to solidify instantaneously, therefore you will need to start whisking immediately after removing from the freezer. Once your mixture has turned into a luxurious butter, scoop mix into some pretty jars or containers. Seal with an airtight lid and dress with ribbon or twine.
Due to its natural ingredients the butter should last upto 1 month. It feels a little greasy when first placed on your skin, so i have been using it as a night moisturiser on my arms and legs. After your skin has absorbed the goodness, your skin will be feeling revitalised and very soft.
