Have you ever heard of the treatment called cupping? My partner and i have been using this ancient technique to assist with back aches and muscle sprains. The cups can be slightly uncomfortable but they honestly the results are amazing.
The technique of cupping was thought to be first used as early as 3000 BC to cure internal diseases by using animal horns as the cup. Today, therapists use a hot or cold cup which is placed on your body to create a vacuum motion to draw upon your tissues. After leaving the cups on the skins for a period of time, the vacuum suction draws upon all the toxins in your skin and creates a circular blood stasis. Toxins are then released through your pores and the cupping works to activate your lymphatic system.
So what can cupping do for you? Cupping has been used to treat many ailments such as;
- Soft tissue damage & nerve pain
- Common colds and flu’s
- High and low blood pressure
- Stomach and head aches
- Chronic Fatigue
Because your body is releasing toxins from your body you may feel a little ‘hung over’ after the session. Some people might also feel tired, no appetite, have night sweets, head-achy or sore. However don’t be put off from the side effects as all people react differently to the treatment. If you are ever unsure, consult your practitioner prior to using the treatment.
