Fat Fighting Food

I have been thinking over the weekend about all the foods which help aid with weight loss and provide the body with those extra nutrients it deserves. Below is a list of the foods which i love to include in my diet every week. Most of which can be added to any of your daily meals from breakfast through to dinner. I would love to hear what types of foods help you achieve your goals and give you that extra boost of energy!Image

Blueberries are my favourite type of fruit. They contain those lovely things called antioxidants which help prevents the buildup of free radicals by reducing the process of oxidation. Antioxidants are also linked to weight loss when consumed over a period of time as they are a great source of fibre so you feel fuller for longer.

Serving size: 25 to 35g per day

Raspberries, another yummy fruit. Raspberries contain a natural substance called keytones, this substance works to prevent overall body fat and visceral fat. Raspberries can be eaten any time of the day and make a great addition to your morning breakfast or frozen for a treat after dinner.

Serving size: 25 to 35g per day

Salmon is such a versatile fish to cook with as it can be eaten raw or cooked. Although it’s higher in calories than other fish varieties, it is low in saturated fat, high in protein, and contains the omega-3 essential fatty acid. Salmon has been linked to brain development, healthy skin and hair, and can help prevent and combat conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis and depression.

Serving size: 100g to 150g per person and can be eaten twice per week

Spinach is another great source of fiber which helps to keep you fuller for longer and contains the vitamins A , C, Magnesium and Zinc . Spinach also aids in digestion, blood sugar levels and prevents over eating. Spinach can be added to your morning smoothie or to your lunch time salad.

Serving size: 1 to 1 ½ cups per person

Cayenne pepper

Cayenne pepper is becoming a secret ingredient with detoxes and cleansing resumes. This super hot spice also aids the body’s ability to metabolise food and toxins. Why not add a little flavour to your chicken or casserole.

Serving size: ¼ teaspoon

Oolong Tea

Oolong, a natural Chinese herbal tea with many health benefits. Oolong has a catechin and caffeine combination that stimulates your body’s temperature and metabolism for upto 2 hours after consumption. It works to block the fat from entering the intestines and also helps to lower high blood pressure.

Serving size: 2 to 3 cups per day

 Last but not least WATER!

Cold water is shown to give your metabolism the kick start that your body needs each day. Research shows that after consuming a glass of cold water your body works to raise your internal temperature burning up to 70 calories per day (8 glasses of water). Easy way to burn those extra few calories right!
